Always consult with a qualified healthcare professional or clinical dietitian regarding specific medical conditions, medications, or dietary restrictions.
1. Overview
FilterPoint ("Filtering out the bad stuff at the point of decision") is designed with a privacy-first architecture. We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal health data, scan history, or images.
2. Information We Process & Collect
- Camera and Image Data: When you use FilterPoint to scan nutrition labels, barcodes, or produce, the app accesses your device's camera. Images and text extracted via optical character recognition (OCR) are processed strictly in real-time to analyze ingredients and nutritional content. Images are not retained on our servers beyond the immediate processing request.
- Health and Dietary Profile Data: Clinical conditions (such as CKD stages, Type 2 Diabetes, GLP-1, Celiac), custom macro thresholds, and custom watchlists are stored locally on your device. This data is used solely to evaluate ingredients and recipes against your chosen parameters.
- Saved Recipes & Offline Cookbooks: Custom recipes, saved adjustments, and ingredient substitutions are saved locally to your device's storage.
- Financial & Subscription Data: In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely through the Google Play Store billing system. FilterPoint does not collect, receive, or store your credit card numbers or payment details.
3. Third-Party Services & Cloud Processing
FilterPoint utilizes trusted third-party services to deliver its scanning and AI capabilities:
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP) & Gemini AI: Encrypted text and produce image data may be sent to our secure backend hosted on GCP Cloud Run and processed by Google Gemini models to provide ingredient analysis and recipe substitutions.
- Open Food Facts: Barcode lookups query public product databases to retrieve ingredient and nutritional facts.
- Google Play Services & Google Play In-App Billing: Handles application updates, licensing, and subscription management.
4. Data Storage and Security
We implement industry-standard administrative, physical, and technical safeguards:
- All network communication between FilterPoint and cloud backend services occurs over secure, encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections.
- User profiles, custom watchlists, and macro settings reside in local, sandboxed application storage on your device.
5. Data Deletion and User Control
Because your profile and dietary preferences are stored locally on your device, you have full control over your data at all times:
- You can delete or modify any health profile, watchlist, or saved recipe directly inside the app settings.
- Uninstalling FilterPoint permanently deletes all locally stored profiles, watchlists, and saved recipes from your device.
- To request assistance regarding data inquiries, you may email us at support@filterpoint.app.
6. Children's Privacy
FilterPoint is intended for use by adults managing dietary and clinical nutrition needs. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under the age of 13.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically. Any updates will be posted on this page with an updated "Effective Date" at the top.
