“Filtering out the bad stuff at the point of decision.”
1. Core Concept & Safety Grades
FilterPoint is a personalized health shield that evaluates food labels, fresh produce, grocery barcodes, and scraped recipes against medical conditions (such as Chronic Kidney Disease, Type 2 Diabetes, Celiac, and Autoimmune Protocol).
Every scanned item is evaluated on a strict 3-tier clinical rating system:
🟢 Green — Safe
Complies with all clinical sodium, potassium, carbohydrate, and protein rules. Zero blacklisted triggers found.
🔴 Red — Avoid
Exceeds hard clinical nutrient ceilings (e.g. hazardous sodium/potassium loads) or contains blacklisted triggers (e.g. inorganic phosphates, gluten, allergens).
2. Managing Profiles (Persons)
FilterPoint uses a Single Point of Responsibility architecture so you never wonder where data is created, edited, or selected:
SELECT (Home Screen): The top button Profile: Me ▾ on the scanner screen is strictly for switching between active people. Tap any name to set who you are currently scanning for.
EDIT & RENAME (My Health Screen): The top field Profile: [ Me ] allows you to rename anyone at any time. Type a name and tap Done on your keyboard to save.
ADD & DELETE (Settings Screen): Tap the Settings gear (top-right of Home). Use + Add New Profile to add family members or clients. You are automatically redirected to My Health to configure their conditions.
3. My Health & Clinical Targets
The My Health tab is the clinical command center for the active profile:
Biometric Measurements
Enter actual body weight, biological gender, and height. FilterPoint automatically calculates:
Ideal Body Weight (IBW): Calculated via the clinical Devine formula based on height and biological gender.
Adjusted Body Weight (AjBW): Automatically derived if actual weight exceeds 125% of IBW, ensuring dialysis and renal protein ceilings are dosed safely without over-penalizing overweight individuals.
Weight Privacy: Tap SHOW / HIDE to mask the weight field in public.
Clinical Conditions & Exclusivity
Check one or more conditions applicable to the active profile. FilterPoint includes built-in clinical rules:
Exclusivity Guards: Mutually exclusive stages (e.g. CKD 1–3 vs Dialysis) automatically toggle conflicting patterns off to prevent clinical overlap errors.
4. Adjusting Macro Limits
Every clinical condition ships with official hospital guidelines. If your nephrologist or dietitian gave you specific custom milligram targets, you can fine-tune them directly:
In My Health, scroll to the bottom of the clinical targets list.
Tap Adjust Macros. The sliders will automatically seed with the clinical numbers from your checked condition.
Adjust your Yellow Caution and Red Danger limits for Sodium, Potassium, Saturated Fat, Carbohydrates, and Protein.
Interactive Safety Clamping: Yellow limits are mechanically prevented from exceeding Red danger limits.
Tap Save. Custom limits now apply exclusively to this profile.
Resetting to Hospital Defaults: When custom numbers are active, a Reset to Defaults button appears. Tapping it wipes custom tweaks and restores standard guidelines.
5. Point-of-Decision Scanning
FilterPoint provides three distinct input modes on the Home screen thumb menu:
📷 Label Scan (Camera)
Point your camera at a printed food label and capture. FilterPoint executes local, on-device OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to extract the Nutrition Facts box and ingredients panel with zero cloud latency.
⚡ Barcode Scan
Point your viewfinder at any 12-digit UPC or 13-digit EAN grocery barcode. The scanner features a 1D retail hardware lock that blinds the sensor to marketing QR codes and settles autofocus after 600ms.
Safer Alternatives Engine: If a scanned barcode triggers Red (Avoid) or Yellow (Caution), FilterPoint automatically searches the US market database for safer Green/Yellow alternatives in the exact same product category.
🍎 Produce Scan
Photograph unpackaged fresh produce (apples, squash, peppers, greens). FilterPoint runs a produce reality check to guard against non-food items and resolves exact raw USDA macro metrics per 100 grams.
6. The AI Recipe Adjuster
The Recipe tab turns unsafe culinary recipes into safe meals tailored to your active health profile:
Importing a Recipe: Tap 📂 Import to paste text, read from clipboard, import a .txt file, or paste a recipe website URL (e.g., Allrecipes, Food Network).
Servings: Verify or adjust the serving counter (defaults to 4).
Profile & Adjust: Tap the primary action button. FilterPoint checks its local 0-second cache; if unanalyzed, it calls the cloud generative AI pipeline.
Differential Clinical HUD: View horizontal differential gauges comparing original vs. adjusted Sodium, Potassium, Net Carbs, and Protein.
Step-by-Step Instructions: Tap Get Steps to synthesize complete cooking steps adapted to the new substituted ingredients.
Save to Cookbook: Tap Save to store the adjusted recipe in your offline Clinical Cookbook.
7. Clinical Cookbook & Cook Mode
The Saved tab holds your personal library of compliant meals:
Dynamic Real-Time Safety Badges
Every saved recipe dynamically re-evaluates its safety badge against the currently active profile in real time:
🟢 Verified Safe: The recipe was adjusted for this active condition and contains zero violations.
🟡 Re-Verify: The recipe was saved under a different health profile (e.g. saved for Celiac, but active member has CKD). Tap the recipe and hit ↻ Re-Profile to adjust it.
🔴 Avoid: The recipe contains an ingredient currently on the active profile's custom Avoid watchlist.
🍳 Hands-Free Cook Mode
Open any saved recipe in the Cookbook Reader. In the Step-by-Step Preparation header, tap:
🍳 Cook Mode: ON
Cook Mode keeps your phone screen awake indefinitely so you can follow instructions with wet, oily, or floured hands without touching the glass.
Battery & Pocket Fail-Safe: If you exit the screen, switch apps, or press your phone's power button, Cook Mode automatically resets to OFF. It will never drain your battery in a pocket or purse.
Swipe to Delete
Swipe left on any recipe entry in the cookbook list to remove it permanently.
8. How to Report Tester Feedback
As a closed beta tester, your feedback directly shapes the public release. Here is how and what to report:
One-Tap Recipe Telemetry
Inside the Recipe Adjuster, tap Report Issue. FilterPoint automatically compiles your active condition settings, original ingredients, adjusted substitutions, and numerical deltas into a pre-filled email addressed directly to support@filterpoint.app. Add your notes and send.
What We Need You to Test
OCR Quirks: Did a curved can or reflective glossy bag misread an ingredient line?
Barcode Accuracy: Did a scanned grocery item return an inaccurate macro count or foreign alternative?
Culinary Rationale: Did an AI substitution make sense in the kitchen (e.g., swapping baking powder for baking soda + lemon juice in CKD)?
UI & Navigation: Did any button wrap text awkwardly or fail to respond on your specific phone model?
